One of the things I really appreciate in every place I visit is the hassle-free mode of transportation. I live 20-30 minutes from the city so there’s no public transport near my house. I have to go for a 15-20 minute walk and ride a motorcycle to bring me to the main road. But anyone who knows me clearly knows that I’m not a motorcycle-type of girl. That’s why I always go with either my parents or my sister. And I don’t drive. Don’t ask. *grin*
When I went to Sydney, I was very happy and relieved that they have very convenient transportations. I can’t wait to visit Sydney again!
Meanwhile, here are four different ways you can roam around (and explore) Sydney:
Rent-a-car
We explored the city by renting a car in Hertz. My brother and his best friend wanted to rent a certain car (I forgot, classic) but the only car available was an Audi. Well, we took it. First time in an Audi and won’t be the last. It’s very convenient especially if you’re traveling with family or a group of friends.
Train
I like trains because they have a fixed schedule so I can plan out my day well if I’m tight on time. I also like the fact that I don’t need to bring cash since you can use an Opal card to pay for the train, the bus and the ferry. We took the train when it’s rush hour to avoid the traffic. Although rush hour means there would also be A LOT of people in the train.
Bus
If I need to go to a place where the train doesn’t, I take the bus. Like when I went to the zoo, I took a bus from the city all the way to the zoo which was very convenient. On the way back, I took the ferry which was a really great experience as I was able to visit the Sydney Harbour again.
I don’t know the exact bus schedule but there’s a schedule in the bus stops.
Bicycles
I haven’t tried riding a bicycle while I was in Sydney but I saw a couple of people going around the city on it. I’m pretty sure you can rent a bicycle there and while it’s a good way to move around the city, I’m not sure it’s for me because I haven’t rode one in a long time.
