When you think about the best travel destinations, Chile may not be on top of your list but you might just change your mind once you finish reading this article!

I just added this new category to my blog “travel destinations” where I will feature different places that I have and have not visited yet. This will not only help me in my future travels but hopefully you will also find it useful for your own travel plan.

I will be sharing this on a weekly basis so be sure to subscribe to my blog 🙂

I don’t know much about Chile so imagine my surprise when I made my research about this beautiful country!

Chile is best described as a long and narrow country in South America. If you check the map, you’ll exactly know what I mean. It’s near Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Santiago is the capital of Chile but when visiting there, make sure to explore other cities too. Spanish is the national language in Chile.

Climate

Chile has a varied climate depending where you are in the country. Did you know that the driest non-polar desert in the world is in Chile? It’s the Atacama Desert!

When you visit the central part of Chile, you will experience a Mediterranean climate and if you head over to the south, a rainy temperate climate might welcome you.

Cities

There are 8 cities in Chile:

Santiago, which is the capital and largest city of the country.

Valparaíso, where you can find the main Chilean port and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Concepción, the second largest city.

La Serena, the city full of adventures.

Valdivia, also known as the “City of Rivers”. It was greatly damaged by the strongest earthquake in history but has been rebuilt.

Iquique, considered the tourist centre in Northern Chile.

Punta Arenas, it is one of the southernmost cities in the world.

Vina del Mar, the city where you can find the principal tourist attractions: casino, beaches and the iconic music festival.
