I have read a lot of articles on how to be motivated to work and inject my brain with all the inspirational quotes I could find but I hit a major roadblock last week.
I followed a couple of tips to change my mood. I cleaned my closet, my bathroom, my room, took a walk, went to the gym, cooked a new recipe, soaked up some sun, play with my nephews, watch my favorite movies and series and listened to my favorite songs. While I was able to uplift my mood, I wasn’t my usual happy, enthusiastic self.
But even though I felt unmotivated, I realized I am still productive.
How? I CHOSE to be productive.
Now this may raise some eyebrows but it is what it is.
I am still doing great at my job and I still smile and laugh. What I found out was, I let my circumstances get to me and I lost my motivation along the way. Writing this blogpost is a huge step because I haven’t really written an article in a long while.
I have so many ideas on what topics to write about but I couldn’t get myself to put them into words. I have to say, I owe this little surge of motivation from all the TED Talks I watched for the past few days and a bunch of feel-good music playlist! I am listening to a John Mayer playlist as I am writing this one.
If you missed out on my only tip on how to be productive when you’re unmotivated then let me say it again.
CHOOSE to be productive.
Keep working on whatever it is you’re working on. If you’re tired, take a break but don’t give up.
I have spent hours watching Ted Talks and reading motivational articles and even though the effect wasn’t that instant, it still motivated me to write this article after a long time of not blogging (a few days is a long time for a writer!).
Life is a matter of choices. Our choices shape our future. You can choose to be positive or negative. You can choose to be productive or unproductive. When you realize that you have the power to choose the best option for you, you’ll never settle for anything less.
So for those who feel unmotivated, don’t fret, it will pass.
The happiness you’re looking for is already inside of you. (I might have to remind this to myself every once in a while).
I’ll keep this post short and sweet. Have a great night everyone!
